New Spouse Visa Rules Explained

New Spouse Visa Rules Explained

The Government recently announced significant changes to the spouse visa application process. The changes most importantly include an increase to the minimum income threshold.

Increased Income Threshold

Since April 2024, the minimum income requirement for a spouse visa has risen from
£18,600 to £29,000 per annum. This will be increasing again by early next year.

What if I cannot meet the new income requirement?

Applicants may need to explore additional income sources or savings to fulfil the financial requirement. You do need to be careful when mixing different sources.

Can I include income from self-employment or other sources?

Yes, but it has to be for income from the same period.
